And here are the tasting notes for the Glendronach 1995 cask nr: #3804. This is an exlusive bottling for the Whiskybase members. Released in 2015, this is just a few weeks off from being officially 20 years old. (It was distilled in September 1996 and bottled in August 2015).
This Glendronach 1995 cask #3804 has matured in a Pedro Ximenez sherry puncheon and is bottled at 54.2 % ABV.

Nose: First thing I get is a bit of barley. Normally I associate this with younger whiskies so it’s a bit new to me that I find this in a 19 year old. Bit of a sourness. Raisins, nuts, milk chocolate. Faint smell of plums in there. With water it gets even more of a malted barley smell.
Taste: Chocolates, nice! Not the very dark ones but a bit sweeter. Very good though! A bit of a sweet note to it, sugar (between brown and white). Again the raisins, plums and a little bit of peach in there. Quite layered and would think it has more to offer but it’s doesn’t give itself fully. With water it becomes very sweet and it has some kind of coffee in there as a sublayer.
Finish: Quite a lot of chocolate with a little filling of plums and raisins. Add some sugar to it… Almost sounds like a little liquor bonbon doesn’t it?
A nice Glendronach. It is definitely better than the standard range of Glendronach such as the 18 or 21 year old. A little bit on the expensive site for what you get. But it is a good whisky.
After a week full of single cask Glendronach releases, this was the tasting note to finish up with. It has been fun to taste a few of these releases, but from next Sunday it’s time for something different than Glendronach. 😉
